Logo Development
Didlake is a nonprofit serving people with disabilities and having as its main client base local government agencies tasked with providing for the needs of disabled people. Its logo was beginning to show its age - having features once fashionable but now obviously out of date.
Basis, a branding agency serving northern Virginia created a branding brief to outline positioning opportunities. Once Didlake indicated its preferences a set of conceptual approaches to a brand was presented, including a new logo to address both corporate and federal sectors, yet also provide inspiration for the people with disabilities they serve.
Basis presents a new logo development case study for the project on its website.
Branding
Peris is an interior construction and remodelling firm located in Falls Church, VA. As the firm grew, if found itself competing for projects with larger firms - much larger than itself. For the most part - these firms present similar branding images in their logos, a me too mentality that whatever the competitor is doing must be working so lets look like them.
In developing a visual brand - a logo for Peris, Basis, a Falls Church, VA based branding consultancy conducted an extensive competitive analysis and found an opening none of the other competitors appreared ready to exploit. Delivering high quality black and white photographs in its collateral, set off with the bright red of the company logo let Peris' stand apart and landed this firm on the short list much more often.
The lesson is that in a competitive field where accepting multiple bids is the norm, branding consideratins can deliver critical competitive advantages in unexpected ways.
Basis publishes a branding case study about this project on its website.
Rebranding & Identity
C2ER (the Council for Community and Economic Research) began as ACCRA (American Chambers of Commerce Research Association). Among other activities, the group is well known for publishing The Cost of Living Index that tracks various statistics, most famously the price of a typical shopping list, researched and averaged nationwide. As this grocery price average rises year by year, we all undoubtedly hear this news broadcast on all popular news outlets. Because of the popularity of the publication overshadowing the organization itself, ACCRA decided to rename to C2ER and reorganize. The team at Basis worked with this group to implement a new identity to support their reorganization. Beginning with a logo, the team then moved on to create a series of business tools, then web templates, which were later added to a comprehensive web presence with a content management system.
Branding for Confidence
Davis & Davis Law is a criminal defense practice working mainly in the district and federal courts in Washington DC. As with many professiona practices, the website for the firm is a place where people who have already learned about the firm can find more information, it is not primarily a recruitment vehicle but rather seeks to inspire confidence in the professionalism of the attorneys in this practice. The logos, fonts and structure are straightforward and are exactly what is expected of a law firm. Christopher Davis, a criminal defense lawyer, specified the way the site should communicate, not to an unknown audience but to those who already knew about the firm.
